Rauma Railway - The Golden Train

For over 100 years, the Rauma Railway has connected Romsdalen to both Trondheim and Oslo. A train journey through Romsdalen provides a rare nature experience. From the gently rolling forest terrain around Dombås, you experience how the nature changes and you are gradually surrounded by high mountains. And last but not least, Trollveggen with its nearby peaks is a fantastic sight.

Along the way, you will also pass Kylling Bridge with its beautiful design. It is one of the most photographed bridges in Norway.

When Norway was occupied by Germany during World War II in 1940, the gold stored in Norges Bank in Oslo was transported by train to Åndalsnes via the Rauma Line. You can experience this story aboard The Golden Train during the summer season.
